Why is there water dripping from the inside unit (evaporator) of the air conditioner?

This is generally because water has not emptied from the condensate drain or water is being trapped in the pipe existing the system, which could mean its usually blocked by dust and dirt accumulated over time, so it may be time to get the unit serviced….

Why is the air conditioner on but not cooling the room?

This may occur for a number of different reasons:

  • Unit is undersized and not able to cool the whole room.

  • Air filters, coils or motors are dirty.

  • Parts may be faulty.

  • Object blocking the air inlet/outlet of the indoor/outdoor units.

  • Windows or doors are opened.

  • Temperature is set too warm.

  • Selector switch is in the FAN instead of COOL position.

  • Airflow direction is not appropriately set.

Why is there noise when my air conditioner is operating?
  • Air sound is normal.

  • If too loud, turn selector switch to lower fan setting.

  • The blower of the air conditioner may be dirty, and or the motor may be faulty.

Why does the air from the air conditioner give a foul smell?

The abnormal smells may be absorbed into the unit and then recirculated back through the unit. (such as cigarette smoke, food, or pet dander etc)

Check surrounding areas if all is clear, give your service provider a call as the unit may need to be serviced…

Why is the air conditioner still cooling, but the condenser outside has stopped working?

When the room temperature has reached its set temperature by the remote controller, the compressor/condenser will stop operating. It will resume operation once the temperature rises.

Inverter units

In the case of the newer Inverter Units(more energy efficient systems) the condenser(outside unit)will run constantly maintaining better cooling control

Why does water drip from the condenser?

Water dripping from the condenser is normal due to condensation of the warm air around the piping connection, and in some extreme cases from the compressor

Can I do my own chemical flushing service?

As chemical flushing requires dismantling of the fan coil or condenser, hiring a trained technician is preferred. Also, it is better to dismantle the fan coil before using water to remove the chemical as the latter may lead to corrosion of the fan coil if the chemical inside the fan coil is not washed away thoroughly.

What will happen if I do not service my air conditioner regularly?

If you allow filters and coils to become dirty, the air conditioner is likely to fail prematurely. Other benefits of regular servicing include better indoor air quality and more energy efficiency.

How often should I service my air conditioner?

It depends on the usage of the air conditioner. If your air conditioner is switched on for more than 20 hours daily, a bi-monthly servicing is recommended. Otherwise, servicing once every three months should suffice to ensure that the air conditioner is running in good condition.

Can I perform general cleaning my myself?

You can clean the fan coil and filters yourself as they are easily removed. However, to vacuum and flush the drainage system and to check and top up the refrigerant gas requires specialized equipment. Our scope of work for general cleaning includes amongst others, lubricating of motor parts, checking of electrical circuits and leakages.

My technician told me that my refrigerant leaks, what will he do?

If your air conditioner leaks, simply adding refrigerant is not a solution. A trained technician should fix the leak, test the repair and then charge the system with the correct amount of refrigerant. Remember the performance and efficiency of your air conditioner is greatest when the refrigerant charge exactly matches the manufacturer’s specification and is neither undercharged nor overcharged.
